I am pleased to have been invited here to speak with you, but I think this comic venue is probably more appropriate for a stand-up guy rather than this career 'suit'. Be that as it may, I appreciate this opportunity to speak with you.
What I want to share with you this morning are some thoughts I have on the agency/client relationship—a dance I have personally participated in during a 28-year agency and client-side career and one that I have observed with continued interest during my 18-year tenure at the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA). So, as attested by the grey hair, I've been around this business for 46 years-long enough you would think to have figured things out and arrived at some answers.
I wish I were that clever. Instead, I find I just have a lot of questions. Questions I thought I would share with you this morning in the hope that being clients, you'll help me find some of the answers. So here goes:
