Business Co-operation in Market Research

A Report Prepared for the Research Development Foundation

WHY WAS THE PROJECT CARRIED OUT?

The background to the project

At a Research Development Foundation (RDF) Seminar held at Nottingham University in 1992, the level of co-operation by the general public in research was noted as a key topic deserving attention. This conclusion was also reached by the Market Research Society Professional Standards Committee in compiling the MRS Guidelines for Handling Databases published in 1995.

A working party was established in late 1994 to develop and manage a major research project to investigate the general public's attitudes towards survey research and to establish a base line against which future trends could be assessed.
