EACA Care Awards 2012

Summary
Incubators in Serbia were insufficient and 40 years old. The death rate for prematurely born babies exceeds 60%. The challenge was to raise awareness and create public pressure on companies with the capacity to help in order to receive donations that would enable the distribution of 100 incubators to Serbian hospitals. B92 Fund's strategy was to mobilise Serbians behind the humanitarian movement called "Battle for the Babies". People chose their military branch on-line and joined the fight by spreading the message online, voting, sharing stories and organising events. Over 1 million people and more than 700 companies joined this battle. The campaign raised funds for 195 incubators, amounting to €2,600,000 covering needs of the entire country.

Summary
On World Children's Day, African Angel unveiled their first interactive donation billboard in Dusseldorf, Germany. The billboard would allow those who chose to donate to scratch off a picture to see the immediate effect their one donation had on a child. The smartphone app followed the same principles but allowed for online donations. Through this user-interactive approach, 100% of the attendants at World Children's day donated, and over €10,000 was raised by smartphones alone.

Summary
Stones for Sakineh was designed to raise public awareness about the cruel punishment of stoning that still goes on in parts of the world. The campaign featured a Facebook application for a petition where users could choose a stone and write their name and a personal message on it to support people who were sentenced to be stoned, Sakineh being one of them. With upwards of 40,000 signatures, the campaign was able to support Sakineh and two other people.

Summary
Surfrider Foundation Europe, a non-profit organization, was looking to raise awareness for its community beach cleanups and restoration work in France. It launched an ad campaign that brought its audience back to the real point where pollution starts, which is their everyday purchases that will soon become garbage or litter. Its "Everything Must Go" creative, which tapped into typical retail messaging, played out across radio, press, leaflets and on banners in retail stores. The Foundation was able to get over 42,000 participants for its beach cleanup weekend, double the number it had achieved two years previously.

Summary
The Fondation pour l'enfance has found that more than half of parents with children under 2 years old use corporal punishment on their children when they have done something wrong. Due to this high percentage, they were motivated to launch a campaign to educate parents on the negative consequences these forms of punishment have on their children. Through their film, the foundation was able to get press on many TV channels as well as print sources, plus over 150,000 views on YouTube.

Summary
Amnesty International celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011, and they wanted to celebrate 50 years of outstanding work by their volunteers to protect human rights. But, they also wanted to issue a reminder that while they are excited to be celebrating, the fact that the organization still is around means there is still work to be done in the realm of human rights. By highlighting the people who could not celebrate with them - those who were still imprisoned or tortured, as well as those who had been executed - the campaign encouraged the audience to think. 56% of those asked believed that the campaign gave the audience the will to act.

Summary
On World Water Day, Solidartés International launched a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of clean water. Millions of people die every year from lack of clean water which makes it the leading cause of death in the world. This campaign called on journalists to spread the word through their work, whether it be TV or newspaper spots. In one month, the campaign spurred 400 press articles, and in only two days there were 300,000 internet views.

Summary
Cancer Research UK wanted a campaign that would heighten awareness for their mission to stop cancer. Using a maximum outreach strategy, CRUK launched a campaign to pull at the heartstrings of its audience emphasizing that while more and more are surviving, that is not always the case. With this strategy, the results of the campaign were outstanding. Revenue was up, as was belief in CRUK and belief that their donation was making a difference.

Summary
Barnado's was looking to raise brand awareness and affinity by building a deep emotional awareness with their audience through their Life Story campaign. Their aim was to convey to their audience the belief they have in every child and that for those children it is never too late for an intervention. Through their emotional video, Barnado's was able to boost donations and volunteer turnover as well as gain an 86% increase on their Facebook page.

Summary
Samu Social wanted a campaign that would call web users to action to sign their online petition and save the only women's shelter in Paris. The campaign brought to light the dangers homeless women face and the refuge that the shelter offers them. Using mainly the internet and taking advantage of social networks, the campaign was shown through a short video that followed a homeless women being chased as she found her way to the women's shelter. The interactive video required intervention from the watcher by choosing to share the video to keep her safe. After only 10 days and 18,000 signatures, Samusocial was informed that the women's center would remain open.
