XM Radio Bows to Commercials Pressure

09 March 2006

WASHINGTON DC - The hitherto ad-free US satellite radio broadcaster has been told it must include advertising on four of its commercial-free music channels following the resolution of a legal dispute with content provider and investor Clear Channel Communications.
XM Satellite Radio plans to add four new stations to its list of 69, in a bid to offset the change and ensure subscribers see no reduction in the total number of commercial-free channels.
