WPP Mulls Networks Merger

05 March 2007

LONDON: WPP Group's fledgling micro-network United could be merged into the London offices of its bigger sibling Grey Worldwide. United lost the $150 million ($292m; €22m) BSkyB satellite television account in December 2006, business that accounted for 70% of its billings.

Joint managing partners Robert Campbell and Jim Kelly were subsequently believed to be considering a merger with a digital agency or refocusing on new media, but Campbell is now expected to move to another WPP role.

Comments United's chief operating officer Laurence Mellman: "There are discussions taking place but nothing is confirmed." However, he insists: "There are no plans to shutdown the network."
