Vodafone Appoints Ex-Adidas Marketer as Global Ad Boss

Neil Simpson, former head of global brand concepts and senior vp-advertising at Adidas, is to join mobile phone giant Vodafone to fill the new post of marketing communications director.

Simpson (35), who helmed marketing for the sportswear group for over five years, will take up his new role at Vodafone later in 2002.

Reporting to Vodafone global brand director David Haines, Simpson will take charge of all brand communications and deal with the firm’s agencies, which include Wieden & Kennedy in Amsterdam and J Walter Thompson. He will also help oversee the ongoing worldwide media review.

Replacing Simpson at Adidas is Nicholas Baddour [WAMN: 14-Aug-02].
