Vivendi Buys Matsushita Slice of Universal Studios

PARIS - The French media and telecoms group has paid $1.15 billion (€953.9m; £648.1m) to Matsushita Electric, the world's biggest consumer electronics maker, for its 7.6% stake in Universal Studios.
The Vivendi Universal conglomerate, which now has full control of the studios, says the acquisition will improve its net earnings by at least $30m in 2006.
