VNU Divides Businesses into Three

In the wake of a period of rapid expansion, global media and information specialist VNU is to reorganise its business into three separate units.

The new groups, reflecting the discrete activities of VNU-owned companies, are titled Media Measurement & Information, Business Media and Marketing Information.

The Media Measurement & Information division will conduct research into adspend, TV and radio ratings, web audiences and entertainment information, servicing ad agencies and media groups in over forty markets around the world. In charge is chairman/ceo Michael Connors, who also retains his post as vice-chairman at ACNielsen.

This media-oriented division comprises ACNielsen, Nielsen Media Research, ACNielsen Media International, NetRatings, Marketing Resources Plus, VNU Retail Entertainment Information, Interactive Market Systems, Scarborough Research, PERQ/HCI Research, SRDS, The National Research Group and ACNielsen EDI.

VNU Marketing Information consists of ACNielsen (excepting the aforementioned media divisions), MediaPlan, Trade Dimensions, Spectra Marketing Systems, Claritas (USA) and Solucient. Finally, VNU Business Media encompasses Bill Communications, BPI Communications, VNU Expositions and VNU eMedia.
