Univision Shareholders Greenlight Sale

NEW YORK: US Spanish language broadcaster Univision Communications has gained shareholder approval for its acquisition by a private equity group led by billionaire investor Haim Saban.

The $13.7 billion (€10.7; £7.2bn) deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be inked next spring.

During bidding for the company earlier this year, Univision was also fiercely pursued by Mexican media giant Grupo Televisa [WARC News: 15-May-06].
