Univision Accepts Private Equity Group Offer

LOS ANGELES - In a further and probably final twist to its tortuous sale, US Spanish language broadcaster Univision Communications has accepted an $11.1 billion (€8.82bn; £6.09bn) bid from Providence/Madison Dearborn private equity group, led by billionaire Haim Saban.

The group won the deal after an auction that attracted just one other offer, from a consortium led by Mexico's Grupo Televisa. The latter had been considered the leading contender to acquire Univision until an internal dispute last week [WAMN: 22-Jun-06].
