11 July 2003

Unilever has appointed a new senior marketer in the US after an executive exodus at rival Kraft.

Irene D Rosenfeld, president of Kraft North America, and Michael Polk, the group’s vp and president of biscuits, snacks and confectionery, left the company this week.

Polk is joining Unilever Bestfoods North America as senior vp for marketing and chief operating officer. “We are delighted,” declared the company’s president/ceo John W Rice, “His terrific knowledge of the food industry should prove a great asset to our business.”

Replacing Polk at Kraft will be Daryl G Brewster. The next step for former Saatchi & Saatchi executive Rosenfeld was not disclosed.
