US Web Marketers Ignore Global Opportunities, Accuses Jupiter

Only some 25% of the world’s internet users will be USA-domiciled by 2005, predicts Jupiter Research. But despite this trend, a mere one third of US online businesses are currently targeting global markets.

According to the researcher’s Globalization Report, the Asia Pacific region will overtake the USA in under five years and ultimately account for one-third of all internet consumers by 2005. During this period, America’s share of the global internet population will slump from its current 36% to around 24%.

US companies must establish beachheads in these emerging markets, Jupiter urges, counselling that that strategic partnerships with local businesses, joint ventures and franchise deals are the most prudent way forward
