US Household Icon Completes Jail Term

07 March 2005

US domestic diva Martha Stewart was released Thursday from her somewhat unstylish habitat of the the past five months - the federal women's prison at Alderson, West Virginia.

Stewart must serve a further five months under house arrest tagged with an unbecoming electronic bracelet to track her whereabouts.

She is, however, permitted to renew her business activities at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia via which she publishes domestic and style guidance and markets household paraphernalia. She is also to host a new reality TV show.

The nature of her conviction for lying to federal investigators over her share trading activities means Stewart must gain the consent of the US Securities and Exchange Commission in order to assume direct command of her commercial kingdom.
