US Ad Pages Resume Downward Trajectory

11 September 2002

July’s rise in US magazine ad pages [WAMN: 09-Aug-02] – the first since December 2000 – appears to be something of a false dawn, with August registering another fall.

According to the Publishers Information Bureau, the number of pages fell 5.8% compared with August 2001 and are down 8.3% for the year so far.

Six of the PIB’s twelve major ad categories posted a rise in pages, the remnant reporting falls. Pharmaceutical ads experienced the biggest increase, up 10.9%, while apparel/accessories fared the worst, declining 24.7%.
