Representatives of America’s advertisers and agencies are near to cutting a deal with acting unions over payment for TV and radio commercials.
The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists this week reached a “tentative agreement” over a new contract with the Association of National Advertisers and the American Association of Advertising Agencies. The existing deal expires on October 29.
The SAG/AFTRA Negotiating Committee will put the proposal to the unions’ Joint National Board of Directors on Monday, at which point details will be released. If the Board approves the deal, the two bodies will seek the endorsement of members ahead of the current deal’s expiry.
“By achieving a fair and equitable contract prior to the expiration date, we have served the mutual best interests of SAG and AFTRA members, and the advertising industry,” read a statement jointly released by SAG, AFTRA and the ANA/AAAA Joint Policy Committee on Broadcast Talent Union Relations.
“We have contributed to the momentum of economic recovery for our industry and have helped to ensure that everyone keeps working.”
