EMULATING its North American sponsorship deal with Microsoft's MSN portal, Unilever is now to pro-mote its European consumer products on MSN's local Womencentral channel. Although its value is unstated, the European partnership makes the Anglo-Dutch consumer products giant the channel's largest sponsor. Among the UK brands participating are Wall's Ice Cream, the Organics shampoo range and Persil. According to a Unilever spoke, the deal is an integral component in the group's European interactive strategy: 'It is a great opportunity for our key brands to experiment with this medium in Europe.'

In a separate move, Unilever has also taken a £6m stake in Wowgo, a site targeting teenage girls. It is the group's first direct internet investment.
