UK Leads Europe's Digital Marketing League With €3bn-Plus Spend

BRUSSELS: The IAB Europe Interact Congress in Brussels heard this week that its thirteen member-nations between them spent €8 billion ($10.79bn; £5.42bn) on internet advertising in 2006.

Leading the pack were UK marketers who accounted for thirty-nine per cent of the total sum, €3.1bn, according to a study produced for the IAB by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Completing the five top-spending nations were:

    2. Germany €1.7bn (22%)

    3. France €1.18bn (15%)

    4. The Netherlands €564.3m (7%)

    5. Italy €480.2m (6%).
Elsewhere in Europe the residual €927m (12%) was divided between Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Slovenia and Spain.
