UK Groups Link for World’s First Digital Radio E-Guide

14 October 2002

Three of Britain’s major broadcasting groups have joined forces to roll out the world’s first digital radio electronic programme guide.

The trio are Capital Radio, Chrysalis Radio and UBC Media Group (whose Unique Interactive technology arm developed the EPG software).

Like e-guides for digital television, the radio EPG will offer interactive content related to programming. It will carry information on all Capital and Chrysalis stations and will be available on the Capital/Emap London and MXR regional multiplexes.

Listeners will require EPG-enabled digital radio sets to receive the service, though those owning digital receivers without such capabilities can access the guide through special devices using a software upgrade offered free of charge.
