UK Digital Radio Hits Right Note with Consumers

17 February 2005

With a goal to sell 1.2 million digital radios this year in the UK, the Digital Radio Development Bureau is delighted by latest consumer awareness figures.

Researcher Ipsos RSL Omnibus says around twenty nine million people now know about digital radio, which amounts to nearly sixty percent of the UK population. The figures equate to a sixteen percent rise in awareness from January last year.

Says Ian Dickens, ceo of the DRDB: "Following record sales of DAB digital radios in 2004, it's not surprising that awareness has also gone up."

Consumers bought 837,500 prodcuts in 2004, which means that there are now almost 1.3 million DAB digital radios in UK homes.
