UK Consumers Put Google at Top of Brands List

LONDON: UK consumers have named Google as their favourite brand, choosing just three home-grown varieties in their preferred Top Ten.

The latest survey, produced by the Centre for Brand Analysis, shows Microsoft in second place, followed by Mercedes. The BBC is the highest placed British brand, coming in at number four.

The top ten brands in the UK are:

    1:  Google
    2:  Microsoft   
    3:  Mercedes-Benz   
    4:  BBC   
    5:  British Airways   
    6:  Royal Doulton   
    7:  BMW   
    8:  Bosch 
    9:  Nike   
    10: Sony
Comments TCBA ceo Stephen Cheliotis: "Lifestyle brands, particularly those in the technology sector, have considerably more sway with the public than everyday staples such as the supermarkets, which now seem further than ever from the affections of the British people.

"As the spectre of rising food costs continues, they are likely to come under further scrutiny.

"The results are also a further sign that Google is continuing its dominance in the UK. It is clear that Google is the brand that people value at work and in their personal lives."
