UK Broadband Future Under Spotlight

26 February 2008

LONDON: The UK government is to carry out a nationwide review of broadband internet usage amid urgings to address demands from service providers that it should help pay for infrastructure expansion.

The review, to be led by former Cable & Wireless ceo Francesco Caio, will report back to ministers in the fall.

Last year a government advisory body warned that the UK had two years to boost investment in the next generation of broadband connections.

It claims the country risks falling behind its European neighbours, some of which are already trialling much faster broadband speeds.
