Twenty Shops Joust for French Post Office Business

18 January 2001

The estimated $15 million financial services advertising account of La Poste, France’s state-owned postal monopoly, is up for grabs as more than twenty wannabe agencies jostle for position.

Advertising for La Poste’s banking business has long been allocated on an ad hoc basis, as was work for its mail delivery sibling. However, the latter is now contracted to a single agency - Omnicom owned BDDP & Fils, Paris.

Millions of French citizens use La Poste as a popular alternative to commercial banks. It offers checking and savings accounts, personal loans, mortgages, plus a range of investment plans.

The competing shops will be whittled to a shortlist before the final decision is made this summer.
