08 June 2007

JOHANNESBURG: The African continent's first 24-hour business TV channel, CNBC Africa, launched this week. It broadcasts nine hours of local content daily, supplemented by international material and regular live updates from CNBC in Asia, Europe and the USA.

Targeting affluent and influential Africans, from the professional classes to business leaders to senior government officials, the channel offers a global perspective from an African viewpoint.

Says CNBC Africa chairman Zafar Siddiqi: "The channel's aim is to provide a platform for the ongoing inter-African discussion on globalisation, employment, career, business and investment opportunities, living standards, infrastructure development and other relevant issues."
