Tesco Takes its Brand to Tokyo

TOKYO: The UK's biggest supermarket chain, Tesco, continues its global expansion strategy with this week's opening of its first own-brand Tesco Express mini-mart in the Japanese capital. It plans to open a further two stores in other areas of the city in May.

The company already runs 106 stores in the country under the Tsurukame brand, following the acquisition of supermarket chain operator C Two-Network in 2003.
