Tokyo Broadcasting System yesterday announced it is in final talks with six companies to distribute content to digital satellite broadcasters.
The six are Fuji Television Network, Toshiba, Matsushita Electric Industrial, Sony, Dentsu (Japan’s largest ad agency) and software developer Infocity.
Next generation digital satellite broadcasting is set to launch in Japan towards the end of next year. A TBS spoke confirmed that the new company would provide content for the new broadcasting system, but refused to comment further. The companies are expected to make an announcement on Monday.
A report in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper yesterday claimed that TBS and Fuji TV would each own 27.5% of the new company, while the other five participants would hold 10% each.
