Starwood Hotels Reviews $20m–$30m Business; Incumbent DDB Pulls Out

04 October 2001

Starwood Hotels and Resorts is seeking a new agency for the $20–$30 million duties of its Sheraton and Westin lodging chains, after incumbent DDB Worldwide in New York decided against participating in a review.

Explaining the move, DDB revealed it was resigning the account because of “the reduced scope of work from the Starwood client.”

The latter declared it was reviewing the business due to “changing business objectives in the current economic climate.” It added that the search would not include shops handling its other brands (such as Four Points by Sheraton, St. Regis and W).

A decision is expected in the first quarter of next year.
