Smith Quits As Dma Chair

01 September 1997

'PRESSURE OF WORK' was cited by former DMA chairman Pat Smith as he stood down from the honorary position half-way through his two year term. Smith, sales director of The Lettershop Group, explained: 'It is a very demanding job and I am standing down for business reasons.' The DMA board later elected Joanna Reynolds, director of magazine publishing at Reader’s Digest, in his place. Judith Donovan, CBE, the redoubtable founder of JDA, was elected deputy chair replacing Steve Gapper who remains chair of the DMA Scotland. [This is Reynolds’ third term as DMA chair, the first being at its inception in 1992.]
