ISLEWORTH, UK: News Corporation-controlled British satellite television giant BSkyB has expanded its retail stores network after inking a deal with rhe nation's largest shopping mall owner Land Securities.

The pay-TV broadcaster will be the exclusive retailer of entertainment and communication services at flagship shopping centres in Cardiff, Leeds and Liverpool.

Its current 170 stores across the country are a showcase for Sky HD, Sky+, Sky Broadband and other products. The outlets feature multimedia plasma screens and live digital satellite feeds.

Sky hopes this latest deal will increase the number of such stores to 250 by the end of the summer.

Says the company's director of customer acquisition, William Mellis: "Retail stores are an increasingly important part of our marketing capability ... The opportunity to demonstrate our products to millions of consumers each week is a huge asset."

Sky has exclusive agreements in place with a number of the UK's major shopping centre owners.
