01 March 1998

MULTI-UTILITY titan ScottishPower is to invest over £1 million to enable its customers to pay their bills direct via the Internet. SP (which also owns Manweb, Southern Water and Scottish Telecom, serving in aggregate one in five UK homes) plans to start offering the service to consumers within the next six to twelve months. The facility will allow customers to make a single payment to cover all services and will also provide a home shopping service for ScottishPower's retailing business.
