Copyright, a Sao Paulo-based direct marketing agency, has been acquired for an unstated sum by the Brazilian arm of WPP’s J Walter Thompson. Copyright clients include Yahoo! and Unibanco.
Gustavo Dias Leite and Deyse Dias, founders of the Sao Paulo shop, will remain with the company – to be rebranded Thompson Connect Worldwide – respectively as account director and creative director. They are joined as chief executive by external recruit Nuno Paes, a Portuguese national.
JWT Brazil is currently in acquisitive mode, having recently purchased ad agency Master and interactive specialist CollectiveMind. In addition, it is setting-up a joint venture with telemarketer Interact while also shopping for a promotions agency.
Predicts JWT’s Brazilian president Alvaro Novaes: “Our billings will reach $265 million this year.”
