Saatchi's New X Network to Lead Instore Marketing Initiative

02 June 2004

Publicis Groupe owned advertising network Saatchi & Saatchi has acquired Northwest Arkansas-based ThompsonMurray in a bid to fuse traditional advertising techniques with the latest instore marketing strategies.

ThompsonMurray, which was founded in 1997 and will form the core of a new initiative branded Saatchi & Saatchi X, has established new techniques to focus and motivate the attention of instore shoppers.

Claiming to "turn shoppers into buyers" the new network will exploit the growing power of supermarketing channels, as a counter to the declining impact of traditional TV advertising.

Says ThompsonMurray chief executive Andy Murray: "Television at home is still the most important medium to build a brand. The second most important medium is the store."

Acting also as a "centre of excellence" for Publicis, the new network is headed by Murray as chief executive while S&S chief executive Kevin Roberts will act as chairman.
