Saatchi's GM Posse Heads for IPG

18 February 2005

When the deputy-dawg gallops outa town and seventeen of his posse follow pronto, some folk guess they're headin' for greener grazin' at another nearby ranch.

Or as WAMN wrote yesterday about the multiple exits from Saatchi & Saatchi's New York office …

"Only two possible reasons come to mind for the mass exodus. Either: (1) Loyalty to a departed boss has reached new heights on Madison Avenue; or (2) General Mill's 630 million annual greenbacks are about to migrate to another location."

According to this morning's New York Times, it's option two.

And the "other location", it seems is Interpublic Group. Mike Burns, Saatchi's former worldwide account director on the $630 million (€485.14m; £333.44m) General Mills business is said to be enjoying cozy tête-a-têtes with IPG's senior management - as are other members of his seventeen-strong posse.

But ink has yet to be applied to paper and the erstwhile Saatchistas spoke to the newspaper only on condition of strict anonymity.

IPG, Saatchi & Saatchi and General Mills all declined comment.
