Saatchi Snatches Y&R Creative Maven for General Mills Biz

24 March 2005

Saatchi & Saatchi New York, desperate to bolster its decimated General Mills account team after last month's mass defection to Interpublic, has hired Young & Rubicam's Ann Hayden (51) as evp and worldwide creative director for the GM business.

Y&R, itself flailing in the wake of recent client defections (Sony Electronics, Jaguar), was suspiciously gracious at the loss of a key member of its creative team.

"Ann Hayden is a terrific talent and has done some outstanding work at Y&R," eulogized Gord McLean, chief executive for Y&R North America. "Her legacy is not simply the work, but even more, the very talented people she has developed and nurtured."

Says Hayden of her return to her agency alma mater: "This move is not about issues at Y&R. It's about a chance to take this huge opportunity."
