NTL, Britain's largest cable operator, is poised to buy Swisscom’s broadcast services unit in a deal worth 400-600 million Swiss Francs, according to a Swiss newspaper report.
A Swisscom spoke refused to confirm the story, conceding only that “Swisscom is in talks with various parties about the possible sale of the broadcasting services and NTL/Cablecom is one of these parties.”
A successful deal would add the broadcast services unit to NTL’s recently acquired Swiss cable TV group, Cablecom. The unit has over 2,000 antennae on 450 sites.
