RTL Axes Channel 5’s Online Ad Sales Unit

Luxembourg-based European broadcasting behemoth RTL has instructed the UK’s Channel 5 to close its online advertising sales unit, C5i.

Triggered by disappointing internet ad revenues and the general slowdown in advertising growth, the closure will cost ten jobs including that of sales director Nick Bampton.

The decision follows a review by RTL of pan-European advertising market conditions.
