Quartet Vie for $125m California Lottery Win

05 June 2002

Four finalists have been selected to participate in the final shootout for the five-year $125 million (€133m; £0.86m) California Lottery account.

The process is a rerun of the review held earlier this year in which the business was awarded to the Los Angeles office of DDB Worldwide prior to a complaint by unsuccessful incumbent, Grey Worldwide in Los Angeles, that the selection exercise was flawed.

The rerun, conducted under the baton of the lottery’s advertising contract administrator, Rose Marie Laplante, identified the four finalists as the two aforesaid agencies plus Foote Cone & Belding, San Francisco; and the Playa del Rey office of TBWA/Chiat/Day.

The outcome will not be known until July 31. The contract is subject to annual review.
