Publicis Folds FCA! into London Office

12 January 2001

French-based marketing group Publicis is folding the UK office of its troubled integrated communications network FCA! into its flagship London agency, after the former failed to keep pace with market growth rates.

Along with some forty FCA! staff, Publicis will pick up around £30 million worth of its billings, including business from Bass Taverns and Fidelity Investment Services.

FCA!’s duties for washing machine manufacturer Hotpoint, worth £2m, will move to Publicis-owned Saatchi & Saatchi to avoid conflict with Publicis’ Whirlpool account.

Publicis president Maurice Levy has vowed to review the activities of the FCA! network’s operations throughout Europe following his decision that Publicis should focus on a trio of networks: Saatchi & Saatchi, Fallon and Publicis itself.
