Postal Service Uses Promotional Postmark

27 November 2000

The US Postal Service has introduced a postmark for holiday mail with a reference to new movie Dr Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

The postmark, marked ‘Happy Wholidays’, is the result of an agreement between the Postal Service, Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment in which all three will cross-promote each other without any charge. A post office features heavily in the film.

The move represents the first time the Postal Service has used postmarks for the national promotion of a product.
