Pepsi Launches Cucumber Drink In Japan

14 June 2007

TOKYO: Beverages giant PepsiCo is tempting Japanese consumers with a proverbial way of keeping cool this summer in the form of its latest offering, Pepsi Ice Cucumber.

The soft drink - which has been artificially flavored to resemble the taste of cucumber, and will only be available in Japan - went on sale on Tuesday. It is hoped 200,000 cases will be sold over the next three months.

Said Aya Takemoto, speaking for Pepsi's Japanese distributor Suntory: "We wanted a flavour that makes people think of keeping cool in the summer heat.

"We thought cucumber was just perfect."
