SINGAPORE: Procter & Gamble will elevate Deb Henretta to group president-Asia effective July 1. She is currently president of the consumer goods giant's Southeast Asia business, including Australasia and India. Her new role will additionally encompass Japan, South Korea and Greater China.

She will continue to report to Robert McDonald, vice chairman of global operations and a leading contender to succeed chairman/ceo AG Lafley.

Henretta (45), who has been with the company since 1985, is the second-youngest P&G executive to reach group-president level, following the appointment of Christopher De Lapuente (44) to oversee global professional and retail hair care.
