Oz TV Network Boss Outlines Future Expansion

16 November 2007

SYDNEY: Kerry Stokes, the combative chairman of Australian television network Seven, has outlined plans for the company's expansion into multiple channels next year and its decision to appeal a legal ruling in the long-running C7 case.

Stokes intends to fight the judgement, handed down in July, when the court refused to accept Seven's claim that its fledgling sports pay-TV venture was forced out of the market by rival broadcasters.

He also highlighted the company's tie-in with TiVo, the US pioneer of digital media recorders. Seven plans to launch the service in the new year.

He added: "Today, and over the coming twelve months, will see Seven develop a multiple-channel business, realising our long held ambitions in this promising evolution of free-to-air television."
