Outdoor Industry Urges Members to Run Public Service Unity Displays

Having cancelled last week’s annual convention and OBIE awards ceremony [WAMN: 13-Sep-01] following the tragic events of September 11, the Washington, DC-based Outdoor Advertising Association of America has issued a statement urging members to utilize their sites to display a message of national unity and hope.

“We hope that each of you will select one or more of your venues to post as soon as possible,” invites the Association. “Imagine the impact that thousands of billboards, transit, street furniture, and alternative outdoor displays can have in healing America."

In a simple white typeface against a black background, the message reads: “In God We Trust. United We Stand.”
