Online Ad Sector Expands as Adspend Shifts

The online ad market, in the doldrums in recent months, is experiencing a mini boom, according to internet ad monitoring firm LemonAd.

Although the internet ad sector is expected to report modest expansion this year – in contrast to the decline in other media – growth has been far slower than some predicted last year.

However, studying 407 British websites, LemonAd found a 6% month-on-month rise in the number of internet ads, a 4% uplift in online campaigns and a 6% increase in the number of individual advertisers.

The sudden growth spurt is said to reflect companies with reduced budgets, but still keen to advertise, diverting their marketing pounds toward less expensive media.

The biggest online spender for September was, which ousted BOL from the top for the first time since June.
