Omnicom Scratches Branding Itch With Two Agency Buys

21 August 2001

Rapidly becoming the ad world’s flavor of the month, Omnicom is beefing-up its branding services offering with the acquisition of two specialist shops in New York and Dublin. The terms of the deal were not revealed.

Joining Omnicom’s branding portfolio alongside extant shop Interbrand are Weiss Stagliano Partners in New York and Dublin-based O'Malley & Hogan. The duo last year formed a joint brand consulting company, Weiss Stagliano O'Malley Hogan International Brand Architecture.

The parent shops, together with their branding offspring, will be merged under the wing of TBWA Worldwide in New York to form Brand Architecture International. Together they boast revenues between $8-10 million, a staff of fifty and a client portfolio that includes Bass Brewing, The Economist and Tumi.

Steering the new vessel are the two shops’ former principals: Adam Stagliano (46), Marty Weiss (47) and Damian O'Malley (45).
