Omnicom Q2 Revenues Soar 15%

  •   Net income at the world's largest agency holding company rose 15 percent to $206 million (€248.1m; £136.2m) from $180m in the same quarter last year. Revenue improved 12% to $2.4 billion in the quarter, up from $2.15 billion a year ago.
        Net income for the first half of 2004 was $342m, compared with $296m in 2003, an improvement of 16%. H1 revenue exceeded $4.6bn, compared year-on-year with $4.1bn.
       International units outperformed growth in the US, with overseas revenue up 17% to $2.1bn, whereas stateside revenues increased 11% to $2.5 billion. However, the gap narrowed in Q2 with domestic revenue improving 11% and international by 13%.
        "We're very pleased with our operating costs for the quarter and the first six months," said Omnicom ceo John Wren. "Our financial performance is really beginning to reflect the actions we've taken over the last eighteen months."
