Nintendo Taps Leo Burnett

29 January 2001

Japanese computer games giant Nintendo is believed to have handed the Europe-wide account for its next generation console Gamecube to Leo Burnett.

Burnett, it is thought, fought off one other, unnamed agency in the review. Former incumbent Leagas Delaney, however, did not pitch for the account – value unstated.

Nintendo refused to confirm the rumours. A tight-lipped Shelly Friend, head of European PR, stated only: “We are in the process of appointing a European advertising agency and expect to make an announcement next week.”
