Nielsen Aims to Track US Gays' Viewing Habits

Information on the sexual orientation of television viewers may soon be included in Nielsen Media Research's ratings data.

The audience measurement company has held meetings with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to discuss ways of including gay men and lesbians in its viewing households.

With the likely launch of networks targeted at the gay community, Nielsen will also discuss its plans with advertisers and media companies.
