NewsCorp Nets $1bn in Q2 Profits

14 February 2006

NEW YORK - Burgeoning advertising revenues at Fox Network and cable business Fox News helped boost News Corporation profits in the group's fiscal second quarter to $1 billion (€838.93m; £572.94m).
Net income rose to $1.08bn, up year-on-year from $386 million in the quarter to December 31. The strong result is largely due to the disposal of TSL Education, which raised $395 million.
Excluding the sale, earnings from continuing operations increased to $694m for the quarter.
