New York Times Agrees UK Supplement Deal With Telegraph

24 March 2004

Britain's beleaguered Daily Telegraph will distribute a weekly version of the New York Times under a new deal between the two papers.

The agreement, terms of which have not been disclosed, marks the latest attempt by the NYT to develop into an international brand. It already has similar arrangements in France, Mexico, India and Denmark.

The eight-page supplement launches in Thursday's Telegraph. Some, however, have questioned whether the liberal-leaning New York paper fits with its staunchly conservative British partner.

The Telegraph, Britain's biggest-selling national daily broadsheet, is currently up for sale as parent Hollinger International seeks to raise cash.
