New Year Promises Growth in Ad Revenue for Radio

02 January 2001

The coming year promises to be a good one for the radio industry’s ad revenue according to the Radio Advertising Bureau’s president/ceo Gary Fries.

Fries predicts a 7.5% to 8% growth in revenue from advertising through 2001 which, while down from the 13% growth in 2000, stands in contrast to more pessimistic forecasts by other media.

“While we will see a levelling off to a more realistic figure in the first half of 2001, the trend in revenue gains will continue on an upswing,” stated Fries. He added that radio often tends to deliver strong ad growth, even at times when overall advertising is slowing down.
